Thirukkural storming the world of fashion

Today's Hindu carried a news item on Thirukkural (ancient Tamil couplets written by poet Thiruvalluvar) making its appearance in the T-shirts to be exported to Italy. According to the report Dhanam's knit garments based in Tirupur, TamilNadu exports these T-shirts apart from selling it in India under the brand name of Team Spirit. Interestingly, the T-shirts that are to be exported doesn't even have the English translation and the report adds that Italian importers were excited, when they listened to the meaning. A proud moment for all Tamils indeed.

Team Spirit also plans to introduce T-shirts with 'Kural' couplets and their English version and a picture of Thiruvalluvar. Their future plans include Bharathiyar, Bharathidasan, spiritual series, freedom fighters and yoga. Finally, we are becoming more creative and hopefully the world will then have a taste of all our poets and other personalities. For those of us, who have seen movie starts, WWF wrestlers and even foreign scientists in T-shirts this is a welcome change and gives a reason to feel proud of.

Long live Tamil.

Postscript: The Kural couplet printed in the T-shirt doesn't seem to follow (as seen from the picture in the report) the starndard of four & three words in first & second line respectively. It is unclear whether this was done purposefully for clearly separating the words. It would be great if this is rectified.
